Maui AgFest & 4-H Livestock Fair is getting ready to kick off its 15thyear—and presenter Maui County Farm Bureau (MCFB) is celebrating by bringing back “Taste Education.” This special series features Grown on Maui guests and was part of AgFest’s beginnings back in 2010, and will once again delight ticket holders at this year’s AgFest on Saturday, June 1, at War Memorial Special Events and Baseball Fields.

Journey back to the ’70s during Maui Ocean Center’s next “Sharks After Dark” 21-and-older night from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18. Dance to disco tunes and capture the fun with a new 360-degree photo booth. Themed attire is encouraged.

The 55th Annual Barrio Fiesta takes place May 24 and 24 at the Binhi at Ani Filipino Community Center in Kahului. Friday’s hours are 5-10 p.m., and Saturday’s event will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Queen Kaʻahumanu Center kicks off the summer season of Kanikapila Thursdays on May 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with live music by Kawika Ortiz, games by Yard Games Hawaiʻi, a Giveaway Bingo Card, keiki crafts, and participation with community partners.

The 20th Annual Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem, a free two day surf contest for Maui’s youth ages 15 years old and younger, is taking place at Hoʻokipa Beach Park all-day Saturday and Sunday.

The 45th Annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk Maui takes place this Saturday at the War Memorial Special Events Field in Wailuku. The event starts with a warmup at 7 a.m., followed by the Charity Walk at 7:30 a.m., activities under the main tent at 8:15 a.m., and festivities conclude at 10 a.m.

Maui-based nonprofit Oni Foundation Inc. opens its new Wonderful World of Aloha 4,000-square-foot multicultural dance and activities center at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Center in Kahului. The dance and activities center opens May 1, 2024, offering cultural dance and hands-on learning experiences for kamaʻāina and visitors. 

The Maui Ocean Center hosts its first-ever “Earth Night” event on Saturday, April 20, from 6-9 p.m. Festivities feature an evening of eco-friendly activities and entertainment for the whole family.

The Maui Ocean Center is in the running for best aquarium in the country. USA TODAY selected the Maui Ocean Center as a nominee on its Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The Maui aquarium is among a list of 20 under consideration by the publication as the best for their high-quality exhibits and visitor interactions.

The University of Hawaiʻi Maui College’s Student ʻOhana for Sustainability (SOS) club is partnering with Maui Huliau Foundation and Hulihia to host its annual Earth Day celebration on the campus Great Lawn and back parking lot on Monday, April 22 from 3 to 6 p.m.
